Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera Make Nice In Today's Tweet Dreams

Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera Make Nice In Today's Tweet Dreams

What rivalry? Any lingering drama that may have been between popsters Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera seems to be long gone. In fact, the ladies were downright chummy with one another on Twitter today. Christina, like so many people today, was totally psyched about the release of Brit's latest album Femme Fatale and took to her page to post, "Hey @BritneySpears Congrats on Femme Fatale release! Can't wait to see what you bring in the next video. xo - Xtina." Britney (pictured) reciprocated the good vibes and told Christina, "Thanks @TheRealXtina. Can't wait to watch you on your new show. Hope we get to hear that voice on The Voice."

It seems like love was in the air all over the Twitterverse today amongst the top ladies of the music biz. Taylor Swift stopped by Katy Perry's show in Ireland and shared with followers, "My friends and I saw the candyland-tastic @katyperry concert last night in Dublin. Loved it!!" There was no doubt that Katy had a good time, too, as she posted, "#DUBLIN you were GORGEOUS tonight! I ♥ YOU!"

Britney Spears Hits a Low Note

Britney Spears Hits a Low Note

Mixed reviews and fuzzy tour plans put a damper on the release of her latest album, "Femme Fatale."

Britney Spears fans who weren’t able to make her San Francisco show Sunday were treated to footage from the mini-set on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday. "I love music," she told a crowd of 5,000 loyal fans. "It's my world. It's my everything."
But should Spears be singing the blues?

Reviews have been mixed for Femme Fatale, the singer’s first album since 2008’s Circus.

New York Daily News’ Jim Farber says Fatale “finds her more pliant, poker-faced and remote in the creative process than ever. As it turns out, that’s a good thing. It’s her first album, since becoming a star, on which she didn’t claim a single writing credit.”

But USA Today’s Edna Gundersen notes Spears’ “voice, swamped by the fastidious production, is thin and colorless.”

And though the Los Angeles Times’ Carl Wilson says it’s “an awesomely efficient machine for fueling a dance floor, a workout or even a vigorous bout of housework, it never invites more intimate listening.”

Notes a CNN critic: “I do wish Britney would do something a little different this time around to reflect where she is in her life. We know she can wear skimpy costumes and dance. But I want to see something different – maybe something more personal, more mature.”

Spears’ tour also may have had its first setback: Hours after she announced plans to hit the road starting June 17 in Sacramento, Calif., a Billboard report surfaced, claiming that Spears’ touring partner, Enrique Iglesias, has pulled out (no official announcement has been made).

Nevertheless, Spears is staying positive, Tweeting to fans that she is more “excited” than ever for people to give Fatale a listen.

Britney Spears Could Have a Future in Las Vegas

Britney Spears Could Have a Future in Las Vegas

Following Britney Spears' much publicized and over the top performance at the Palms Las Vegas last Friday, casino owners are holding behind-the-scenes meetings to try to figure out how to lure Spears to Sin City for a more permanent show.

"Britney's act is just so Vegas that we think she could be one of the city's biggest moneymakers," a source inside the talks tells PopEater.

Palms owner George Maloof was certainly taken with the pop star. He gushed to MTV News about just how giddy he was about Spears' show.

"I think this one's going to be really over-the-top," he said of Spears' show, which will be included in the MTV special. "And we're all excited about her new album, and I heard it's spectacular, so here we go: Britney Spears at the Palms."

Country star Garth Brooks recently proved just how lucrative Vegas can be for a music icon. Brooks has been performing for sold out crowds at the Wynn Las Vegas since the end of 2009. The demand for tickets has been so high that the casino and resort recently raised ticket prices for this spring's shows to $225 a pop.

"In terms of value, I believe that Garth Brooks is still under-priced and represents the greatest entertainment value in modern Las Vegas," Steve Wynn said about Brooks when the price increase was announced.

Britney, now reaching the top of her game following a rough road back from her breakdown, could bring in even more than Brooks, Vegas insiders claim.

Settling in a single location for a high-profile gig might just suit Spears' new homebody lifestyle. She recently told V magazine that she would be a stay-at-home mom if she could be anything else besides a pop star.

"I'd be a full-time mom, which would be cool. I'd miss my fans and all of the love the most, but I definitely would not miss having my picture taken everywhere I go," Spears told the mag. Vegas would give Brit the best of both worlds. She would be able to wow her fans each night, but have her days free to spend with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, plus all those extra hours she would otherwise have spent on the road touring.

"Britney Spears at the Palms," has a nice ring to it for a full-time gig. It sounds a little like the ding of a full cash register.

Although Britney Spears made a big announcement this morning on Good Morning America, proudly saying she was going to tour with Enrique Iglesias this summer, Billboard is now reporting that he has pulled out of the deal.

But we hear that details of Iglesias' schedule are still trying to be worked out. So don't count him out just yet.

Plans call for Iglesias, who is currently on tour in Europe, to be more than a standard opening act. He was slated to carry full production on the Spears tour, says Billboard.

Spears' tour will kick start June 17 in Sacramento, according to her website.

Tour promoter Live Nation, Iglesias' rep and Spears' rep have not yet commented.

Britney Spears Announces Tour with Enrique Iglesias; But Will It Go Forward?

Britney Spears Announces Tour with Enrique Iglesias; But Will It Go Forward?

After her recent live performances over the past few days, Britney Spears fans are saying “Gimme More!” and that’s what they’ll be getting!

Britney Spears announced today on “Good Morning America” that she would set back out on tour beginning in June, with Enrique Iglesias as her tour mate.

She shared the exclusive announcement with “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts while backstage with her dancers after her San Francisco performance, which taped on Sunday, but aired on Tuesday morning.

However, Billboard reported shortly after the announcement that sources have told them Enrique is now pulling out of the Britney tour. Access Hollywood has reached out to reps for Britney and Enrique, and has not yet heard anything back. Access has also reached out to tour promoter LiveNation for comment, and is awaiting comment.

Britney’s tour will begin on June 17 in Sacramento, Calif., and will conclude on August 13 in Toronto, spanning 26 different cities in the two-month period.

During Britney’s “GMA” performance, she was honored by the city of San Francisco, which declared this past Sunday to be “Britney Spears Day.”

“Thank you all so much for all your love and support, you guys are beautiful,” she said to her fans while learning the news.

When asked by Robin Roberts how excited she is about her new music, Britney responded, “I love it, I love music, it’s my world. It’s my everything, so I’m so happy to be able to share it with everyone!”

Britney’s last tour, “Circus,” took her around the globe two years ago and drew over 1.3 million fans, according to Billboard.

Britney’s seventh full-length studio album, “Femme Fatale,” dropped today. The pop star took to her Twitter to announce the news.

“Just got FEMME FATALE on iTunes! So excited for it to finally be out. What do you guys think?” she Tweeted.

Meanwhile, at least one peer of Britney’s was also super-excited for her album release. Christina Aguilera, with whom Britney first came upon the scene with out of the Mickey Mouse Club, Tweeted Tuesday, “Hey @BritneySpears Congrats on Femme Fatale release! Can’t wait to see what you bring in the next video. xo – Xtina”

Britney Spears's seventh album, Femme Fatale is out today, but is the latest from the pop star worth a listen? We've already heard lead singles "Hold It Against Me" and "Till the World Ends," but let us guide you through five more tracks that could be your new Spring anthems.

1. "How I Roll" — A chill, but still fun pop anthem. Think grooving in the car with the top down rather than the dance floor.
2. "I Wanna Go" — A Pussycat Dolls-esque (I mean that in a good way) up-tempo dance jam.
3. "He About to Lose Me" — A break-up track perfect for belting out into a hairbrush with your girlfriends (or alone, whatever).
4. "Big Fat Bass" — A little repetitive and overly simple, but the big fat bass honestly grows on you.
5. "Gasoline" — A poppy jam tailor-made for a gym mix.

Britney Spears drops Femme Fatale Britney Spears Is The Femme Fatale

Britney Spears drops Femme Fatale Britney Spears Is The Femme Fatale

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale dropped today and with the new album officially out, the diva is ready to promote, promote, promote! After a Las Vegas preview and this morning's GMA mini concert, Spears has announced that she'll hit the road this summer with Enrique Iglesias.

Britney Spears releases Femme Fatale

It's been two years in the making and comes on the heels of endless tease, but today, Britney Spears released her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale. The electro-pop party album is getting mixed reviews, but the buzz definitely wavers toward the positive.

Femme Fatale has even been dubbed Spears' best album yet, and no one is more amped about the release than Brit-Brit herself. "Just got Femme Fatale on iTunes!" Spears tweeted this morning. "So excited for it to finally be out. What do you guys think?"

With the new album officially here, Britney is ready to work it. Hold It Against Me and Till The World Ends were the first singles to drop from Femme Fatale, but Brit's fans got to hear the whole thing early, thanks to live streaming. There were also the unannounced Spears preview concerts in Vegas last weekend.

To celebrate today's March 29 release, Brit prerecorded a concert in San Francisco on Sunday, which aired on GMA this morning. The pop diva will also be rocking it on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight.

"I love music. It's my world," Spears said on GMA. "I'm so happy to be able to share it with everyone."

Britney also has an MTV special called Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale airing April 3, with the first trailer sneak peak of the show airing tonight at 7:58 p.m. The special, which includes footage from those Vegas concerts, promises to take fans inside Britney's life to see what it's like to release a highly anticipated album.

Britney is also set to guest host KIIS-FM's Wango Tango, alongside Ryan Seacrest, on May 14 in Los Angeles.

The biggest news to drop with Femme Fatale, however, is that Britney Spears has announced a summer 2011 tour with Enrique Iglesias. Considering the sexy costumes changes, pyrotechnics, elaborate sets and intricate choreography utilized in Spears' mini-concerts, her show promises to be over the top, which is just how fans like it.

Spears and Iglesias will be co-headliners for their summer road trip, which begins June 17 in Sacramento, California and then continues around the United States and Canada until the final August 13 show in Toronto.

Adams cast as Superman's Lois Lane

Amy Adams, shown at the Oscars in February, will play Lois Lane in the new Superman film. Amy Adams, shown at the Oscars in February, will play Lois Lane in the new Superman film.

Amy Adams has landed the coveted role of Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman remake.

She'll play the ace Daily Planet newspaper reporter and love interest to British actor Henry Cavill's Clark Kent and Superman. Actors Diane Lane and Kevin Costner have also signed to portray the superhero's adoptive parents: Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Adams, 36, is a three-time Oscar nominee for best supporting actress: for 2010's The Fighter, 2008's Doubt and 2005's Junebug, which marked her breakout role in Hollywood.

As the new Lois Lane, she tackles a noted role that has previously been played on film by Noel Neill in the 1950s, Margot Kidder in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Kate Bosworth in 2006. On TV, Teri Hatcher (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) and Erica Durance (Smallville) have portrayed the inquisitive journalist.

"Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about," Snyder said in announcing the casting.

He praised Adams as "one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."

Adams is also is set to star in the upcoming Muppets movie and portray Janis Joplin in a biopic about the late singer directed by Fernando Meirelles.

Amy Adams, the three-time Oscar nominee and star of such films as "Enchanted" and "The Fighter," will play The Daily Planet's plucky reporter in director Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot of the "Superman" comic-book franchise, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Snyder won't talk about how big a role Lois Lane will play in the new film, but she is "a linchpin" in the story. Lois also embodies the movie's contemporary spirit, Snyder said.

“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today," Snyder told the Times. "What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”

British actor Henry Cavill will portray Superman/Clark Kent in the film, due in theaters in 2012. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane have been cast as Superman's human foster parents, the Kents.

Amy Adams: From 'June Bug' To Lois Lane
We take a look at the eclectic list of roles the Oscar-nominated actress, and new Superman love interest, has played.

Henry Cavill might have been getting a little lonely in Metropolis. Two months after landing the role of Superman in Zack Snyder's reboot of the superhero franchise, the 27-year-old actor still hadn't found out who'd become his Lois Lane.

The answer arrived on Sunday: Amy Adams will be play the Daily Planet reporter and Superman love interest. In a statement, Snyder called Adams "one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today." That's hardly an overstatement: The 36-year-old star has performed in indies and blockbusters, musicals and animated fare, solemn dramas and bawdy comedies. Along the way she's managed to earn three Oscar nominations, the latest for her supporting turn last year in "The Fighter."

A former Hooters waitress, Adams made her debut in 1999's "Drop Dead Gorgeous" as a dim and cheerful beauty-pageant contestant. Supporting roles on the big and small screen followed, but her next step up the Hollywood food chain didn't arrive until Steven Spielberg cast her as Leonardo DiCaprio's love interest in 2002's "Catch Me If You Can." While things were undoubtedly going well for the actress, she then took a step back from the spotlight over the next few years and only fully resurfaced in very unlikely fashion.

"June Bug," a sort of "Meet the Parents" for the art-house crowd that starred Adams as a wide-eyed gal named Ashley who's days away from giving birth and seemingly miles away from planet earth, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2005. The performance won her a special jury prize for acting — and a year later she earned her first Oscar nod for the part. The decision to avoid mainstream fare turned out to be just what Adams' career needed.

"If you love the project, you love the project, and you could be making millions of dollars and have millions of dollars to spend or no money to spend and making no money," Adams told us at the time. "But it's about the script and it's about the people and it's about the story."

From there she began mixing studio pictures ("Talladega Nights") with indie roles ("Sunshine Cleaning"), and ended up wowing critics and audiences in "Enchanted," a film that managed to breathe new life into movie musicals while at the same time paying deep respect to the genre. There was also a short but satisfying arc on "The Office" as Jim Halpert's (John Krasinski) handbag-slinging girlfriend. By the start of 2009, Adams would earn her second Oscar nod — this one for playing a 1960s-era nun in "Doubt" — and yet she couldn't quite get used to the idea that she was indeed a movie star.

"You see yourself onscreen, or you see pictures of yourself, and it can get really heady. I don't think human beings are supposed to look at themselves that much," she said in a 2009 Allure interview, adding that she used to think of herself as "homely" and "painfully small, short, with too much blue eye shadow because I thought, 'It matches my eyes, so why not?' "

Perhaps by now, following her third Oscar honor, she's more comfortable with the notion of celebrity. Hopefully. Because her star is about to rise to a whole new level. There's her turn as Jason Segel's girlfriend in "The Muppets," set to premiere later this year, and she wrapped production last year on "On the Road" opposite Kristen Stewart. In addition, she's attached to play Janis Joplin in a big-screen biopic. But none of that will compare to the exposure the new "Superman" movie will bring her when it premieres in December 2012. Snyder, for one, couldn't be happier with the choice.

"Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois," he said. "[S]mart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."

Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane in "Superman"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Amy Adams will play Lois Lane in the upcoming Superman reboot, filling iconic shoes worn at various times by Noel Neill, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher and Kate Bosworth.

She will play the enterprising Daily Planet journalist and key love interest opposite British actor Henry Cavill, who was previously cast as Superman/Clark Kent. Diane Lane and Kevin Costner will play his adoptive parents.

Zack Snyder ("Sucker Punch") will direct the Warner Bros. project, which is set for a December 2012 release.

"Second only to Superman himself, the question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about," Snyder said in a statement Sunday. "So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful."

Adams received an Oscar nomination this year for her supporting role in "The Fighter."

Neill played Lois Lane in the 1950s TV series starring George Reeves, while Kidder brought the role to the big screen in the Christopher Reeves movies. More recently, Hatcher played Lane in the TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," while Bosworth took over in the 2006 feature "Superman Returns."

Adams recently was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in "The Fighter." She joins a cast featuring Henry Cavill as Superman, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent.

Margot Kidder played Lois Lane in four Superman films in the 1970s and 1980s and Kate Bosworth played Lane in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns" in 2007. Phyllis Coates played Lane in the 1951 film "Superman and the Mole-Men."

Snyder's current film is the critically-savaged "Sucker Punch."

Amy Adams cast as Lois Lane in new Superman movie

Amy Adams seems to be Hollywood’s current It girl.

With Academy Awards nominations left and right, Adams can add another feather to her cap as it was just announceed that she will join the cast of Superman: Man of Steel as Clark Kent-slash-Superman’s love interest, Lois Lane.

As director Zack Snyder described to EW.com, Adams “has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

He also mentioned that the search for the new Lois Lane was a long, complicated road because the role, to him, was just as important as the Man of Steel himself.

Adams does seem to have that certain spunk that makes Lois Lane, well, Lois Lane.

Her casting is more reminiscent of the role as portrayed by Margot Kidder of the original Superman movies. Her addition to the cast also seems to shed some light in the direction that production is going to take with this current reboot.

Adams co-stars in the movie include veteran actors Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. And cast as Superman is hunky actor, Henry Cavill of The Tudors fame.

Need more of an incentive to see this movie? It’s being produced by Christopher Nolan. Yes, THE Christopher Nolan.

But, moviegoers will still have to wait awhile (actually a long while) for the movie to come out as the projected release date is December 2012.

Amy Adams has been cast as spiky reporter Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's forthcoming Superman film, according to the LA Times. She will star opposite British actor Henry Cavill, who was revealed as the new Man of Steel in January.

Adams, now a three-times Oscar nominee following her best supporting actress nod for David O Russell's The Fighter, was told the news on Sunday following a phone call from Snyder. The director, who will work from a concept developed by the Dark Knight team of Christopher Nolan and screenwriter David S Goyer, said Adams was the perfect choice to play the tough yet sensitive journalist who falls for the man from Krypton.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois," Snyder told the Times. "For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it."

Snyder said Adams's character would be a "lynchpin" in the latest Superman reimagining, which will attempt to ground the character in a world closer to our own reality than previous iterations.

"It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today," he said. "What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance]."

Adams, 36, will follow an established big-screen Superman tradition by playing older than her opposite number in the film, tentatively titled Superman: Man of Steel. Cavill is 27, but original Lois Lane Margot Kidder was also four years older than Christopher Reeve in Richard Donner's 1978 Superman, widely considered the best film of the series. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will play Superman's adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, in the new adaptation.

Adams's appointment was announced with unfortunate timing for Warner Bros as Hollywood blog Deadline published a letter from Joanne Siegel, widow of Superman creator Jerry Siegel, to Warner Bros chief executive Jeffrey Bewkes asking him to personally intervene to bring a long-running legal case to a sensible close. The Siegel estate, along with that of co-creator Joe Schuster, recently successfully asserted its copyright to the character in a move which will force Warner to negotiate before making any future Superman films. However the studio has embarked on a strategy to try and force the family's attorney to resign due to an alleged role as a financial participant in the case.

"My daughter Laura and I, as well as the Schuster estate, have done nothing more than exercise our rights under the Copyright Act," wrote Siegel. "Yet, your company has chosen to sue us and our long-time attorney for protecting our rights.

"On December 1st I turned 93. Unfortunately I am not in the best of health. My cardiologist provided a letter to your attorneys informing them that I suffer from a serious heart condition and that forcing me to go through yet another stressful deposition could put me in danger of a heart attack or stroke. Nonetheless your attorneys are forcing me to endure a second deposition even though I have already undergone a deposition for a full day in this matter. As clearly they would be covering the same ground, their intention is to harass me."

Siegel never sent the letter as she died of heart failure in a Los Angeles hospital on 12 February. The Siegel estate's battle with Warner continues.

Adams will star alongside Britain's Henry Cavill in the as yet untitled film, set for release in December 2012.

The 36-year-old actress was recently seen in boxing drama The Fighter.

She was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for her role but the award went to her co-star Melissa Leo.

In the four Superman films starring Christopher Reeve, Daily Planet reporter Lois was played by Margot Kidder.

Kate Bosworth took over the part when the Man of Steel was revived in 2006 in Superman Returns.

Diane Lane and Kevin Costner have also landed roles in Snyder's film, in which they will play Superman's adoptive father and mother.

Snyder's latest movie Sucker Punch is released in the UK on Friday.

Amy Adams is Snyder's Lois Lane

Amy Adams has won the coveted role of Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's Superman.

The three-time Oscar nominee found out she will play Clark Kent and Superman's love interest (to be portrayed by Tudors actor Henry Cavill) in the rebooted franchise, after receiving a call from the 300 director from Paris, where he is promoting his epic action fantasy, Sucker Punch.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it," Zack told the Los Angeles Times.

The filmmaker didn't divulge details about Lois' role in the upcoming film, but said the character is "a linchpin".

"It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today," he continued.

"What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance]."

Joining Amy and Henry are Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Superman's adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Will Amy Adams steal the show as Lois Lane?

Amy.jpgFinding the fresh response in obvious situations has become a specialty for Amy Adams, so if anyone can bring new blood to Lois Lane for a Superman movie, it's Adams. She was robbed of awards for "Enchanted" simply because it was a goofy cartoon/live-action hybrid, but I can't think of a better contemporary performance in a piece of comic escapism. Playing a fairy-tale beauty named Giselle, who tumbles down a well in the magic kingdom of Andalasia and ends up peering out from a manhole in Times Square, Adams held to her insight that (as she told me in 2006) Giselle was "completely open, full of conviction and joy and a humor that would go along with that."

When the L.A. Times' Geoff Boucher broke the news yesterday that Adams would be Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's "Superman: Man of Steel," "Enchanted" was immediately invoked across the Internet as the closest Adams had yet come to a comic-book movie. But Adams has been developing many skills that she can bring to bear on Lois Lane.

Will Snyder's Daily Planet go the "His Girl Friday" route of rapid-fire verbal comedy? Well, in "Junebug," Adams turned an open-faced, openhearted pregnant beauty named into that near-impossibility: a lyrical motor-mouth. Once you got into her rhythms, you realized that everything she said had meaning, including a remark to her aging high-school-sweetheart husband: "God loves you just the way you are. But he loves you too much to let you stay that way."

Will her Lois Lane have Margot Kidder's push, grit and sexuality? Well, Adams was no shrinking violet in "Sunshine Cleaning" and "The Fighter," and way back in that underrated beauty-pageant parody, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" (1999), she played the gal who told a competitor "They're never going to let you perform naked. I asked!"

Will Lois simply be Superman/Clark Kent's true love? In Steven Spielberg's "Catch Me If You Can," she played the candy-striper who won the heart of Leonardo DiCaprio's hustler-hero. She was endearingly ardent and focused. When he tried to make a clean breast of things and said, "I'm not a lawyer or a Harvard graduate or a Lutheran; I ran away from home a year and a half ago when I was 16," Brenda simply responded, "Frank, Frank - you're not a Lutheran?"

Playing an idealistic nun in "Doubt" and a striving food blogger in "Julie & Julia," Adams (in my minority opinion) gave the most subtle, exact and feeling performance in either movie. And her crime-scene-cleanup gal in "Sunshine Cleaning" was just as scrappy, passionate and compassionate (if not as celebrated) as her wily barmaid in "The Fighter," Adams has shown she can do anything. She's not perfect: she stumbled badly in the cliched rom-com "Leap Year." Let's hope Snyder's Lois Lane gives Adams room to soar up, up and away.

Is the Next Superman Film Getting It Right? Amy Adams Lands Lois Lane Role

Like many kids who grew up in the ’80s, the Christopher Reeves Superman movies were staple viewing in my household. Unlike the Batman I was familiar with (a la Adam West), Reeves’ Superman was complex, the storytelling was epic and the impact longstanding in regards to my childhood. In other words, Superman was probably the first superhero I actually took seriously.

Now, I’m not a comic book geek. But I do love a good remake. I’m not one of those geeks who clings to the originals if I can help it, and I really enjoy seeing movies redone and reinterpreted, even if they’re bad. Like the last Superman. Nothing was more disappointing, to me, in that particular film than the portrayal of Lois Lane. Lois was a hugely positive role model to me in those first movies, and I loved how Margot Kidder wasn’t typically Hollywood pretty, but had her own fierce beauty and absolute grit. Kate Bosworth, while a very lovely woman, was just a pretty face who really didn’t bring anything new to the franchise other than, well, a super baby. And even she looked bored by her performance.

Anyway, I’ve been listening as the casting process has gone down for this newest Superman reboot. Henry Cavill, in my mind, was a rather inspired choice. Having watched him on The Tudors, his rather unearthly good looks and acting chops make him a great choice. Okay, so Brandon Routh wasn’t that bad, just perhaps lacking that extra something. Cavill, the Brit, I believe could definitely provide that.

But what about Lois? I mentioned before, Bosworth just didn’t cut it. But holy cow did I just do a double take when I read that Amy Adams has been cast in the iconic role. I admit, I absolutely adore Amy Adams. She’s a stunningly versatile actress that plays everything from tough to tender, charming to haunting, and I believe she can do Lois real justice. There’s no doubt that Amy is a beautiful woman, but like Kidder she doesn’t fall into typical Hollywood conventions.

Now I’m just itching to find out what Amy Adams will look like through Zach Snyder’s warped and wonderful lens…

Amy Adams to Play Lois Lane in Superman Movie (That Zack Snyder Is Still Directing)

If you’re a movie studio looking to change the subject from Zack Snyder’s current movie, one surefire way to do it is to slip out a little news about his next one. Over the weekend, when Mr. Snyder’s new fetishized fantasy-adventure, “Sucker Punch,” failed to get off the ground, selling just $19 million in tickets on a budget of at least $80 million, Warner Brothers Pictures countered with an announcement that Mr. Snyder had found the actress who will play Lois Lane in his coming Superman movie. Amy Adams, an Academy Award nominee for “The Fighter,” “Doubt” and “Junebug,” will play that fearless Daily Planet reporter and sometime paramour to the Man of Steel and his alter ego, Clark Kent. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Mr. Snyder described Ms. Adams as “one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today” with “the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”

Warner Brothers had previously announced that Mr. Snyder’s Superman movie, planned for a 2012 release, would star Henry Cavill (of “The Tudors”) as the title red-and-blue hero, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent. No word yet who might play other familiar characters like Perry White or Jimmy Olsen, or who would be the villains of the film. (Here’s hoping that unlike “Sucker Punch,” it won’t be the critics.)

Superman finally has his Lois Lane.

After a long search, Zack Snyder, director of Hollywood's upcoming Superman reboot, handed the part of Lois Lane to Amy Adams on Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The three-time Oscar nominee, 36, will star opposite Henry Cavill, 27, who plays the Man of Steel.

"There was a big, giant search for Lois," Snyder tells the paper. "We did a lot of auditioning, but we had this meeting with Amy Adams, and after that I just felt she was perfect for it."

Snyder added that the Clark Kent-Superman character must have post-millennial appeal for the new franchise to work – and the same goes for the Lois Lane character.

"What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes," Snyder says. "That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance]."

A number of A-list Hollywood actresses reportedly were angling for the part. Snyder delivered the good news to Adams – an Oscar nominee for Junebug, Doubt and The Fighter – by phone on Sunday from Paris, where he was promoting his new film Sucker Punch.

The upcoming Superman: Man of Steel is expected to hit theaters in December 2012.

Will Amy Adams steal the show as Lois Lane?

Amy Adams will play the iconic Lois Lane.

Three-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter) has been cast in the upcoming redo of Superman as the iconic Lois Lane, Clark Kent's fellow journalist.

Adams joins Henry Cavill (Stardust), who plays Superman and Clark Kent, and Diane Lane (Secretariat) and Kevin Costner (The Upside of Anger) as Kent's adoptive earth parents, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch, Legend of the Guardians, 300) who will direct Superman: Man of Steel, is seeking a contemporary appeal. "What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience," he told the Los Angeles Times. "That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him."

Actresses considered in the search for Lois were rumored to be Twilight Saga's Kristen Stewart, Rachel McAdams (Iron Man), Jessica Biel (Valentine's Day), Dianna Agron (Glee) and Olivia Wilde (Tron: Legacy).

Other actresses who have played Lois Lane in previous adaptations include Margot Kidder (1978-83), Kate Bosworth (2006), and Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) on TV (1993-97).

Adams will next be seen in The Muppets with Jason Segel (I Love You, Man) and the Jack Kerouac adaptation On the Road with Viggo Mortensen, Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) and Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga).

Superman: Man of Steel is scheduled for a December 2012 release.

Ma and Pa Kent sure never looked so good in the comics.

Zack Snyder will direct for Warner Bros., and there had to be a number of Warners' execs who began sweating and hyperventilating when Snyder's $100 million "Sucker Punch" took in only $19 million and handily lost its opening weekend box-office battle to the low-budget sequel to "Diary of a Wimpy Kid."

"So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful," he added.

Amy Adams: From 'June Bug' To Lois Lane

Rebecca Black similar to most of today’s hits

Rebecca Black similar to most of today’s hits

By now you’ve probably heard about Rebecca Black, the new teen pop singer who’s been terrorizing the Internet with her auto-tuned, android-like voice on the relentlessly mocked viral video for her song “Friday.”

I’ve been doing my best to refrain from chiming in with my own opinion on the singer, mainly, since my opinion greatly differs from the resounding negative criticism the singer has received.

Yes, I’m somewhat ashamed to admit it, but Rebecca Black is not that bad. Relatively, at least.

If for some reason you haven’t heard of Rebecca Black, she’s a young teen pop singer who suddenly rose to internet fame after the release of her video “Friday,” in which she sings what many have criticized as dumb, senseless lyrics over a simple pop beat.

Some initially thought the song was a joke or parody, but further investigation revealed the video was released by Ark Music Factory, a company that produces videos for similar, unknown teen pop artists.

It’s true, Rebecca Black is terrible. Her voice and lyrics like Yesterday was Thursday, today it is Friday / We so excited we’re gonna have a ball today / Tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday comes afterwards are cringe-inducing and sadly hilarious.

Needless to say, Rebecca Black hasn’t exactly written the next “Imagine.”

She has, however, written a modern pop song. Admittedly, her chorus of It’s Friday, it’s Friday and Fun, fun, fun, fun isn’t what most would consider lyrical poeticism, but it’s not far from the mainstream pop songs being produced.

Singers like Ke$ha, Miley Cyrus and the elder crew (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc.) have been crafting pop songs with simple yet catchy lyrics for years, and, although they’re not necessarily music snobs’ artists of choice, they haven’t caused the same uproar as Rebecca Black.

I found myself laughing and shaking my head at some of the lines in the song, but I couldn’t help but realize many songs on Top 40 radio are not that different.

Black’s lyrics aren’t even that far from older, more respected pop songs. Fun, fun, fun, ’til her daddy takes the T-bird away is not that different from It’s Friday, it’s Friday … Fun, fun, fun.

If it’s Black’s lack of guitars and heavy use of auto-tune and simple electronic pop beats that’s making her such a mockery, that’s one thing.

But why choose Black to mock when others are doing the same thing and have been for more than a decade?

It’s hard to understand why there’s such a fuss over this particular video. Yes, the lyrics are horrible and her voice is awful, but it’s no more ridiculous than any other teen pop song. It’s simple and over-worked, yet catchy in its own, strange way.

There are actually some people on the Internet who are standing up for Black. On Rolling Stone’s website, Matthew Perpetua wrote an article entitled “Why Rebecca Black’s Much-Mocked Viral Hit ‘Friday’ Is Actually Good.”

Perpetua makes statements such as, “[Black] sounds like anything else in pop music,” and “[the lyrics] may not seem as ridiculous if, say, Katy Perry was singing instead.”

Though Perpetua generally pans the song in the rest of the article, he still maintains that it’s fairly similar to many other songs that proved popular.

Perpetua also makes a good point of calling into question the nature of pop, saying “Black and Ark Music Factory have made a video that forces its audience to reckon with a particular formula for pop music.”

Hopefully he’s right, and Black’s song will change the public’s opinion of pop’s simplistic, over-effected formula.

It’s more likely, however, the song will simply entertain Internet meme followers and then fade out of public consciousness.

But the amount of negative attention given to the video is undeserved. Black is dealing with it well, as she largely shrugged off the negative comments on her appearance on Good Morning America, and didn’t do so bad on an a capella rendition of the national anthem and an acoustic version of “Friday” during the segment.

If “Friday” has caused such an uproar, people need to start looking at the pop genre as a whole.

'Worst song of all time' becomes YouTube sensation

Friday, a song by US teen singer Rebecca Black, has gone viral after the song's music video was uploaded onto video sharing website YouTube. The video has attracted over thirty-five million views since its February 10 upload — and critics think it could be the world's worst.

Ark Music Factory produced the song and video, using US$2,000 (£1,223, C$1,964, €1,412) from Black's mother. Friday's video was shot at Black's father's house, with her family and friends as extras. The song beat an alternative track when choosing what to record.

The single is climbing up the iTunes singles chart in the United Kingdom and the United States, gaining a higher position in the US than Canadian singer Justin Bieber.

Despite the song's popularity, it has received a largely negative reception. According to Newsbeat, critics have cited Friday as being "the worst song of all time." On YouTube, the video attracted approximately thirty-six thousand 'likes' versus over 314,000 'dislikes'. The song itself has been ridiculed for its lyrics and criticised for its use of Auto-Tune.

Feeling "like [she was] being cyber-bullied," Rebecca Black said "[w]hen I first saw all these nasty comments I thought this is all my fault, ... this was all because of me." Black says of "[t]hose hurtful comments", the worst was "I hope you cut yourself and I hope you get an eating disorder so you look pretty. I hope you cut and die." Clarence Jey, of Ark Music Factory, offered to take the video off YouTube, but Black declined.

In contrast, British music executive Simon Cowell has expressed a positive interest in Rebecca Black. "I love her and the fact she's gotten so much publicity," Cowell commented. "People are so upset about the song, but I think it's hysterical. I want to meet her. Anyone who can create this much controversy within a week, I want to meet. I love people like that."

Rebecca Black herself wants to record a duet with Justin Bieber. "I have Bieber fever — I am in love with Justin Bieber," Black commented. The teenager said it "would be unbelievable and make my life".

Rebecca Black mall tour: It's all a vicious hoax

rebecca-black-leno.jpgIt turns out that we, along with the New York Times and several other media outlets, were duped into passing along bogus information. Tween Internet sensation Rebecca Black is not -- we repeat, NOT -- gearing up for a mall tour. At least not the one we wrote about last Friday (March 18).

A poster circulating around the Web branded with Black's label, Ark Music Factory, listed 17 upcoming shows that would take the "Friday" singer from Los Angeles to New York with scads of stops in between.

Just one problem: Calls to two of the supposed venues revealed that Black is not actually scheduled to make appearances outside their Sephoras or even in their food courts.

Robbie Stark, the general manager of Virginia's Fair Oaks Mall said they had received a few calls asking about Black's pending performance, but that it was a "hoax." A representative for Los Angeles' Hollywood & Highland Center -- home of the Kodak Theater -- also confirmed that no Rebecca Black event has been scheduled "at this time."

There's also no mention of any live performances for Black on Ark Music Factory's official website. We've got an email out to the company to find out if Black plans any live performances. She may need to come up with a fuller roster of songs (for instance, "Monday," "Tuesday," etc.) before hitting the road.

"Friday" singer Rebecca Black, who became an instant Internet sensation after her song went viral (for all the wrong reasons), announced she would be donating all of the money she earns from the song to Japan and her school.

The 13-year-old went on "The Tonight Show" on Tuesday to talk about how she's handled the unexpected response to her "Friday" video, and proudly explained what she would be doing with all the money she's made off of it.

"I'm donating the proceeds to Japan and to my school," she said with a genuine smile.

She also listed off a few of the celebrities who had gotten in touch to support her, which included Ryan Seacrest, Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, Willow Smith and Simon Cowell.

"Oh my gosh, [Cowell] wants to meet me!" she gushed. "That's so cool!"

Even Lady Gaga threw out some support in a "Google Goes Gaga" special. Though she admitted that she hasn't seen the "Friday" video, Gaga is behind Black simply because she got famous over YouTube.

"I say Rebecca Black is a genius," Gaga said, "and that anybody telling her she’s cheesy is full of s--t."
